I heart Spanish Wine Glasses

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

During our recent road trip through the Basque country of Northern Spain I fell in love with the wine glasses! Well the fact that they held fantastic Spanish red wines did not hurt, but I thought the style of this barware was so chic. In Barcelona and Basque country, these great low wide mouth glasses are commonly used at pintxos bars, the Basque version of tapas. Pintxos are bites of different snacks each sitting on a small slice of bread - amazing! You just help  yourself and pay at the end based on the number of toothpicks you have collected. The casual low wine glasses were just perfect for this type of elevated bar food. Plus the glasses are easily stackable, very affordable, and so versatile! I will definitely be adding some of these to our bar!

Spanish wine glasses available at Spartan-Shop.com, 2.25 inches tall x 3.25 inches wide each.

Marta barware by CB2 - only $1.50 per glass! What a deal! They are 3.5" tall each.

Alessi red wine glass by Jasper Morrison, available at AllModern.com.

Pintxos bar . . .  I think they should have these in each corner in NYC - perfect for a quick bite! I also love the industrial style white metal lights - casual and so stylish.
Is it time for a glass of wine and a pintxos yet ?
