Tanjong Beach Club . . . Heaven!

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

While Singapore is in fact a island in tropics, the dense buildings, mod architecture and bustling business district make this sometimes very hard to remember! Much of Singapore's coast line is swampy mangrove forests (aka no beaches!) and the rest is used for shipping and military needs - with the happy exception of Sentosa Island! Last weekend I went to the new Tanjong Beach club and was welcomed by a chic, low key beach lounge, restaurant and bar. I love the retro vibe of the place and cant wait to go back! The architecture and interiors were done by the very talented  duo of Takenouchi + Webb. I hope you enjoy!

Nautical and bright - a great place to lounge beachside with plenty of shade from the Singapore heat. And a fantastic outdoor bar - I am crazy for the oversized light fixutres!

The bathrooms were so much fun - all clad in retro anchor tiles. The mat, chalky texture of the tiles (instead of high gloss!) and muted colors helped ensure the did not turn out too cliche!

A view from inside the dining room - amazing architectural creativity and all in a very small building!

Cozy seating to have your meal and enjoy the views . . . Love how they piped with white canvas and did buttons in black canvas - its all in the details, right?

The space has a very Miami vibe at night :)

So, what do you say, meet me there next weekend?
