Cycle Love

Friday, September 30, 2011

I just love all of the bicycle themed graphic of 100 Copies. I was so happy to discover the fresh aesthetic of Singapore based artist, Thomas Yang, who decided to combine his two passions: art and cycling. Each product is an original design and is limited to {you guessed it!} only 100 copies and is numbered - so each one is unique. His tees and posters are so mod and colorful!

Suddenly I feel like going for a bike ride this weekend . . .
Happy Friday! XOXO

House Tour: Charming Carriage House

Everything about this cozy carriage house just screams fall! It's perfect for reading in front of the fire, drinking hot apple cider and taking long walks. The countryside chic interior of this small cottage built circa 1870 is a lovely blend of chocolate color woods, bright pops of orange, and loads of equestrian details.

I especially love the time-worn look the interiors have and that desk with the carved riding boot legs! What do you think? Would you like to call it home?

Sofa Brights {+ Roundup!}

Thursday, September 29, 2011

Although usually I lean towards a classic sofa that's dressed up with vibrant pillows - I have to say that these sofa brights are a breath of fresh air! A solid, intensely colored fabric makes a simple sofa a bold centerpiece. One tip to remember is to stick to clear, sunny colors for the most successful look!

There are so many great retail options out there. . .  here are my favorite five!

The Draped Boudoir

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

There is something so romantic and picaresque about the look of draped fabric in a bedroom! Originally based on bed hangings used to keep out cold drafts - today a fabric panel is still is a clever solution - a way to add drama and style to a bedroom for little expense! The best part is you don't even need a headboard to achieve this luxe look . . .

 Even fantastic in a nursery - what a wonderful idea!

I love them all but have to say, the simple white gauzy fabric is just perfect! {The one in the 3rd image is from IKEA!}

House Tour: School House Charm

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

I discovered photographer Roland Bello through a gorgeous spread he took for Gourmet magazine and was struck by the beauty of his interiors work as well. I am in love with this unique home he shot - it has such a wonderful rustic feel and so much vintage school house charm. It's just so fall! I love how the spaces feel silent somehow and really peaceful - maybe like a classroom after all the kids have gone home for the day!

I also love the use of a mainly black, white and brown color palette!
Any details which catch your eye?

Live, Love, Blog with: Mix and Chic!

Monday, September 26, 2011

I am so happy to have the wonderful Jessie of Mix and Chic here today - sharing five of  her favorites in design, style and life! Thanks Jessie!

LIVE, LOVE, BLOG WITH:

Hi Spicer + Bank readers, I am Jessie from Mix And Chic. I am thrilled to be a guest on Allison's lovely blog to share some of my favorite things.

{1} Your favorite thing about your hometown?
I am originally from Malaysia. I was born and raised in a lovely little town named Ipoh. Ipoh is well known for its delicious food. People from many neighboring states often make a stop here for its inexpensive and tasty fare.

In additional to Ipoh's famous good food, what I love about Ipoh is the iconic and majestic architecture.

{2} Your favorite product or design trend of the moment?
I have many favorites but one of my most favorite is tufted headboard. A tufted bed always looks gorgeous, elegant and timeless, what's not to love?

{3} Your favorite design icon or style-maker (past or present)?
I have a long list of favorites but one of all time favorite designer is Phillipe Starck. I have long admired his work. Take these beautiful pieces for example.

{4} Your favorite spot or item in your home?
A beautiful cow hide rug I recently purchased at a discounted price at Ikea. It is very similar to the cow hide rug below.

{5} Your favorite indulgence or guilty pleasure?
Starbucks Mocha Frappucino blended beverage! I am sure it is calorie-loaded but it is something I indulge once in a while. I am sure it is also one of your favorites, yes?

Thank you for having me, Allison. This is quite fun to put together!
