Watercolor Wonderland

Friday, June 29, 2012

I am so in love with this soft, dreamy living and dining room! It was shot by Photographer Michael Graydon for Rue {a mag which I also love!} The mix of pastels, along with a shot or two of more saturated color is just fantastic and I adore the eclectic mix of vintage and modern furniture pieces. The large scale watercolor canvas behind the dining table might just be my favorite element but it's hard to pick. . .

Even the rug and roman shade above have a soft, watery feel to them - beautiful!
Hope you have a dreamy and wonderful weekend!

5 Favorites: Pool Pavilions

Thursday, June 28, 2012

Having a pool at home is luxury in itself but these stylish pool pavilions are really incredible! They are fantastic spaces to entertain in and just feel so special and chic - like a vacation home right at home. I have had the luck to help decorate a few in the past, and my favorite was a Moroccan style pavilion framed with yards of white gauzy curtains! sigh!

So here are my favorite 5 . . . which one is your favorite?

I just love the clean lines, industrial materials and casual feeling of this last one!

Trend Spotting: Oversized Photos

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

One look in interiors I am loving lately is oversized art photography or prints! I think scale might be one of the trickiest parts of beautiful design, and these extra large images can give a space an infusion of modern but unexpected style. I love bold presence of these photos and especially how they feel like a window to look out at the world. Whether its a library, a historic building facade or a crowded beach, these images can transport you there. What place would like an over-scaled photo of?

{I think the aqua framed print above is amazing, and what a brilliant way to create affordable art!}

Form + Function: Chic Waste Basket Picks

Monday, June 25, 2012

Now, I know that some items in a space are just plain necessary - but that does not have stop them from being beautiful and stylish! I am so sad when I see a pretty interior with a terrible plastic or metal mesh rubbish bin. Especially in an office or a small bathroom, waste bins are often very visible so why not pick a chic one? I think no design detail is too small!

Here are my market picks, there are some really fun options out there!

Here's where you can find them all: / 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8

I love the natural ivory and latte texture of #5 and the old world glam of #7!
Do any of them catch your eye?

Online Find: Object Splendor!

Friday, June 22, 2012

Thanks to the ever-addictive Pinterest, I recently discovered the creative party decor shop Object Splendor! They sell a lot of great items for beautiful tabletops but I really love how they organized the site. It is searchable by theme or individual design - each inspiration image is followed by all the items needed to re-create the look. Plus, everything is very affordable! I love to image how you could take one of these themes and make your own chic variation. Here are some of my favorites. . .

So romantic and rustic! I love the birch centerpieces and the burlap chair ties - beautiful!

The inspiration images even help you select which fresh flowers or branches would look best!
Which is your favorite tabletop look?

Thursday, June 21, 2012

I was so inspired by the simple, mod beauty of this bright bedroom, I created a simple Style Blueprint so you can create your own version at home! It would make a fantastic master bedroom, guest bedroom or even a children's room. I love the serene white and neutrals contrasted with the warm bolt of lemon yellow. Here is how you do it. . .

Of course my version has a bit more color and pattern {I can't help myself!} Below are all the online sources:

Summer Punch: Turquoise + Tangerine

Monday, June 18, 2012

Now that summer time is officially here, how about a vibrant update? Just a few pops of aqua and orange will give your interior a fresh new face! Accessories are a wonderful {and non-committal!} way to achieve this bright contrast and I also love this combo for outdoor parties and entertaining. I am thinking of trying this one at home - our living room is mostly indigo blues and white so a bit of orange would work beautifully!

I think this nursery might be my favorite space of all. The grown up gray and white walls look fantastic with just a few bolts of orange.

What a fantastic palette for a tabletop! I love how the orange hues are set off by that bit of green moss - so pretty.

A bold and sophisticated example of turquoise and tangerine. . .

This floor is fantastic! It would be beautiful in a playroom or sunroom too.

What do you think? Could you make this palette work at home?
