Dream Getaway: A Chic & Cozy Austrian Lodge

I love ski trips! And while I do like skiing, what I really adore the most is the warm, casual and oh so cozy feeling of small and wintery mountain towns. We had an amazing ski trip to France a few years ago and I am still dreaming about the charming chalet and nights spent by the fire drinking wine. So when I saw the fantastic ski lodge Jagdgut Wachtelhof in Austria I had to share! I love how rustic and traditional these interiors are with just an edge of modern style and a few luxe finishes. It reminds me a of a gorgeous old family home and I am surprised how lovely the combo of black, forest green, cream and red is!

Any details you love?

Definitely adding it to our must visit list - I have a feeling my husband would adore it too - every ski season spent in tropical Singapore kills him!

Artist Spotlight: Matthias Heiderich

I just love this serene, wintertime photography by Matthias Heiderich. The colors are so soft and beautiful and the overall feeling so peaceful. I love that stillness and quiet that accompanies heavy snow fall and these photos capture that perfectly! They are taken in Heiderich's hometown of Berlin.

What do you think. . . do these photos feel comforting or lonely to you?

I love this last one - what a great color combo! These would be beautiful hung in a home - I would never tire of them.

3rd Anniversary + Winter in Manhattan!

Its our 3rd wedding anniversary today and we were so lucky to be married in the beautiful and wintery Central Park. I adore the vibrant, cozy, festive feel of NYC in the cold. To my amazing husband, I love you more each day. And no matter where our adventures take us, come February 7, my memories will always take me to Central Park in the snow!

Happy Anniversary Honey - I love you!

Cozy Trend Spotting: Bay Blankets

Today's wintery design trend: Bay blankets! They were first introduced by the Hudson Bay Company in Canada in 1780 as items to swap with native americans in the fur trade. The varying stripes widths and colors were used to note the size, weight and quality of the blanket. They were soft, warm, and specially woven to withstand the elements. But even if you do not know about the history, these blankets are so warm and campy and inviting! I love them draped on chairs, layered on beds and used as upholstery. . .

Everything does come back in fashion, but I think these cozy bay blankets never really left!

you can read more about their history here, and get your very own here
{loving that one with one big pink stripe!}

Country vs. City

I love the energy and festive spirit of the city during the holiday season but if I had to chose, I think a rustic country setting is really just perfection! I had the amazing fortune to spend most of last holiday season in France and loved the classical and charming Parisian Christmas lights, but being an American girl at heart, these countryside scenes are still my favorite. . .

How about you? For your dream holiday season surroundings is it country charm or city chic?

Happy Holidays!
